SALARY : R384 228 - R445 425 per annum, (OSD as prescribed)

CENTRE : Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government

REQUIREMENTS :

Formal tertiary qualification in Social Work (e.g. Bachelor of Social Work) thatallows professional registration with the SACSSP; Registration with theSACSSP as a Social Worker; A minimum of 7 years appropriate experience insocial work after registration as Social Worker with the SACSSP; A valid codeB driving licence. Competencies: Knowledge of the following: Job relatedknowledge; Analytic, diagnostic, assessment tools, evaluation methods andprocesses; Personnel Management; Supervision Framework for SocialWorkers; Social Work legislation related to children; Social work theory andinterventions; Information and Knowledge Management; Protocol andprofessional ethics; Communication (written and verbal) skills; Provencomputer literacy; Organising and planning skills; Project planning skills;Psycho social intervention skills; Report writing; Presentation and facilitationskills; Analytical and problem-solving skills; Client orientation and customerfocus skills.

DUTIES :

Ensure that a social work service with regard to the care, support, protectionand development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communitiesthrough the relevant programmes is rendered; Attend to any other matters thatcould result in or stem from social instability in any form; Supervise employees:Supervise and advise social workers, social auxiliary workers and volunteersto ensure an effective social work service; Keep up to date with newdevelopments in the social work field; Supervise all the administrative functionsrequired in the unit and undertake the higher level administrative functions.
